Positively Unleashed

Train Without a Chain

Why Positive Training?

"I object to violence because when it appears to do good, the good is only temporary; the evil that it does is permanent."                       Mahatma Gandhi

There are hundreds of ways a dog can misbehave at any given moment. It simply makes sense to teach him what to do instead of punishing him for getting it wrong. Positive training methods not only give you better results than traditional force-training methods, they strengthen the bond between you and your dog instead of damaging it. Pay attention to a dog's body language. Dogs trained in a positive manner are happy, relaxed, and eager to please you.

Do not confuse positive with permissive. Dogs need boundaries and lessons on how to behave. Being positive means teaching those lessons in a humane way. Being permissive means letting him do whatever he wants. That is not good for anyone! Dogs appreciate having a leader and knowing what is expected of them.

Focus on real-world training but remember to have fun!
